While I haven't been posting any "finds", I've certainly enjoyed looking at all the cool stuff found by the rest of you that have been posting :)

I came across these canes earlier today in my favorite thrift. I really only wanted the monogrammed one, but I bought the other inlaid one so they wouldn't think too hard about why I purchased the 'plain jane' cane with initials that weren't mine nor my husband's. Not that there's much of a chance that another cane tipped with 14K gold will be donated to them ... but all the same, I'd rather that they not start to check for marks on canes. The other walking stick is actually growing on me ... it has inlaid MoP (a few missing bits) and twisted wire plus a ring of "that other natural material" between the handle and shaft. $6 & $8

Lloyd, I don't think Fenton with that polished base but I'm not an expert. Maybe start a thread about them in the glass section:)

Quirky - I'd have bought both too. The inlaid one is a walking stick and looks older than dirt. They're still doing MoP inlaid pieces in a similar vein, but not with that "usual material" stringing. It may be older than the gold tipped one.

the bottoms have me stumped also they are hand blown and have crudely ground and polished bottoms, for something that is supposed to be nice , and no marking of any kind , make me think newer repo

I don't think new or repo, I think maybe English and early 1900s. I'll have a look around and see what I can find.

Hmmm. Lenses are inside, definitely not antique.

Surely can't be worth anything ;)

About 40 quid each, give or take? I'm guessing based on American prices. Nice score. I went to an estate sale this morning and spent $50. I'll have to get some photos, but one bakelite bangle turned up that I'm not even sure how to value. Painted, hinged and set with rhinestones in metal cups.

Walking out of the PO one day, I found one in the fresh snow beside the road. Got $175 for it on feebay within a half hour of listing.

Now that's what I call a deal! This is the bracelet I mentioned. Painted bakelite with holes drilled to wire in the rhinestones. The one prong needs fixing, and there's a chip near the hinge alas, but I've never seen another one made this way. The earring is one of a pair - 14k white gold screwbacks with cultured pearls and a tiny diamond. There were two more pair without the diamond , one with three pearls and a 10k set with one.
