Hello everyone, and thank you for my inclusion into the group!

I recently picked up a beautiful Victorian style sofa for a very nice price, though I am having difficulty locating any information on the builder. They are a company based out of Jersey City, New Jersey as well as Baltimore, Maryland called Mon O Made. The only information I have been able to gather is simply from the sewn in tag under the cushions. My search for any background otherwise has come up empty. If there are any of you familiar with this company, I would greatly appreciate some history on the company, as they truly made an incredible piece that I am proud to own. Thank you all! 20727934_10155593616024481_7165651921062412090_n.jpg

It looks like 1970s or 80s and it hasn't been reupholstered.

Ghopper1924, thank you for your quick reply! Out of curiosity, what leads you to deduce the time period? I ask for curiosity as well as for education on future purchases.

I would have guessed 1950s myself, but that color was hot in the 70s too. It's not antique, the label is post-WWII, and that crushed velvet stuff just "smells" like someone had this sitting under a clear plastic slipcover in a formal living room. :)

I was definitely leaning more towards post WWII as well. The craftsmanship is wonderful whether classified vintage or antique, and save for two tiny tears in the back rest, it's in phenomenal shape. Most definitely a prime candidate for the clear plastic slip covers that I remember sticking to during summer visits to grandma's as a kid. We aren't Italian, I swear! *sarcasm*. I figured it was worth the $80 I paid just to have it decorate my music room/den. If it holds any value greater, that would just be a bonus. Thank you for the reply, evelyb30!

You did well; odds are it's sturdy as all get-out, and it's in great shape. The color is on my "least favorites" list but it really is begging for some sheet music and a guitar or two.

The color would not have been my first choice either, though the poor sofa looked sad sitting in the warehouse where we found it, and the yellow/gold most definitely grew on me faster than I anticipated. The piece is now sitting under 4 hanging guitars where it can be used as intended. Thank you again!

That color and "provincial" look say 70s to me, but whatever. Definitely post WW II. I'd say the price you paid was a good one.

Johnnycb09, it's almost as if you melt into it when you take a seat. It's incredibly comfortable. I greatly appreciate everybody's assistance with this! I think you all helped spark a bit of an addiction I wasn't aware I had. Hahaha

I'm betting your cats like it, if you have any! That thing looks like a fur magnet, so of course the felines would go straight for it.

Evelyb30, I have two black cats and a black German Shepherd. They think it's the greatest thing in the world, as if I brought it home just for them. Suffice it to say, I've been doing my best to keep up with any black fur that makes its way onto the sofa, and fortunately my dog prefers my other couches in the living room as far as comfort is concerned. It's always an adventure with pets.

My cat is a medium hair gray shedding machine. The cushion on the chair by my sewing machine started life dark blue. It's now pretty much gray thanks to Her Furry Majesty.
