Silver footed candy dish, marked "W"

Anyone know the maker? Also am I correct to call this a "footed candy dish"? I do understand that the "loaded base" means "weighted". Keywords appreciated. Hoping someone can use this rather than meltdown. It's a bit tarnished, but otherwise good condition.

And yes the bottom is weighted. (and possibly the stem as well.)

 

A tazza?

 

I usually think of a tazza as wider than this appears to be in the picture showing Lucille's hand.

 

Not to rain on your parade, but I have half a dozen of these (sterling, some weighted, some not) and have never been able to sell one, even at "melt" price..............so I just keep'em hanging around............

 

those are too pretty to melt.....
plus...don't you use them for parties !

 

yeah, I use them - and I rent them as well. I have about 2 dozen "other choices" of items I could use in their place if they had sold. There was a time not long ago when I needed to turn them into cash for obvious reasons. But I could not bring myself to sell for less than scrape value.

 

Ohhhh, I so understand that......now sitting on top of ....( or buried under..) my folks hoard of silver.
I'll give it away to family before selling it at melt weight !!

It's going on Ebay on a 7 day auction with a starting bid of $19.99 + shipping. We'll see.

Okay, roughly 1,000 people divided into 900,000 objects, that means 900 items per person so deciding who gets what, based on the preferences shown on the board, will take me roughly an hour per item, approximately 102 years........... so Lucille.b you have nothing to worry about.......I'll obviously be around for a while..............
