Ming dynasty vase

    Hello I would like your input I believe it is ming dynasty vase Hongzhi 1488-1505 six character mark in underglaze blue , bouble circle. 5 clawed dragon- birds and flowers

    Not Ming of course, but a very nice modern copy. I suppose I shouldn't say copy as I'm not sure a vase exactly like this was even made at that time - maybe, but doubtful.

    The clay body is all wrong and the foot has a very modern treatment. Sorry if that is disappointing news. Apocryphal markings like this are common on modern pieces and are meant to indicated quality rather than age.
    A sort of homage to the craftspeople of the Ming dynasty.

    The Chinese have been copying their own work for centuries.
    The mark is an attribution to the period
    The clay is too white, sloppy paint, stamped mark - not hand done.
