    Love the ad art.
Neat Calder looking piece. Have a stand?

I like the ad for Vaseline. I'm hoping to come across a nice early original print of an ad in my searches. They are worth some money!

Looks like something that I had just seen on antiques roadshow. It's not exactly the same thing but the free hanging, primary color "wing" things look like something that artist would of done. I think the name was Collier, may be spelled differently. Ha, I just read the reply above, it's Calder.

The cointalk forum might be able to help with the Chinese cash coins, although I see they are labelled(? can't see what it says) in a commercially prepared collection. They have always puzzled me although I do have some here and there in the shed.

image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg I thought this vase was really nice. I'm all about colors when collecting. This vase has that mystic "storm a brewing" effect. The colors are captivating. It has a marking and symbols which I can't make out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'd have jumped all over it too. It doesn't look particularly old.

It's my favorite vase. As you can see, I haven't, and will not, place anything in this. It sits next to the tv in the living room.

No, it doesn't appear old. I'm hoping the marks will give a time period this was made. My wife is always shocked at what I bring home.

image.jpg I found this beast just lounging around the house. He has claimed my antique chair. Better get him fixed before he starts marking his territory. By this picture, I think he likes me. :)

    Thanks Shi!

You guys have any thoughts on what era this thing is from?

The clasp is marked sterling. The 16 metal beads are gold & sterling, and the purplish beads themselves I believe are a mix of amethyst & lavender jade(?) (or could be just two different tones of amethyst....not sure).

I can't help with age but the beads look like lavender quartz? Amethyst is a variety of quartz also.

    Thanks AF!

The coins are Japanese and there's a pasted label at right giving the name, denomination, metal type and date of each. They date from 1661 - 1946/7 so I assume they were assembled in the 1940s in Japan for export to Westerners.

Thank you. I'll see what I can find under lavender quartz.

My daughters bought me some more stuff and my youngest brought them up yesterday,a crystal vase, and other stuff so I will take pics when my battery charges. I did get a pic of this Yixing teacup.

I got around to photographing some things today. Went to the auction last night and bought jewelry. I am planning on putting a small section of jewelry in my case at the store so picked up some things to supplement what I already have. I am fairly well versed in fine jewelry and MCM sterling jewelry. However, I am pretty clueless about costume jewelry.

I don't know if what I bought is any good or not. Let me know if there is any costume jewelry here worth some money. Otherwise, I will assume the costume jewelry is of minimal value. The entire lot was about $40.00. I had to buy some pieces individually but bought most of it for one money. It is probably more than I would pay typically for such stuff but, as I said above, I am looking to fill in a bit with what I have.

This tray full has some sterling. The pin down front appears to be South American (Peru?) and is marked .925. The silver bangle is also marked .925, as is the large green glass stone ring. The Middle Eastern bracelet is likely low grade silver. I am thinking it is probably Turkish based on some similar things I have seen and the mark. The mark is a crescent moon enclosing a star. The dainty gold necklace is gold fill and has a natural pearl. All but one pair of earrings are clip-ons.

I know the pics are terrible but my camera will not shoot shiny objects well. Trust me in that the ones not shown in detail are not really worth looking at ..... LOL!

These necklaces don't seem to be anything special. The one on the far right is kind of interesting in that it is made of grey plastic buttons and blue beads. The leaves on the one gold one are all enameled and fired. The one that looks like Indian corn kernels is plastic. The red and black one seems to be sliced walnut shells and some kind of seed. The black one is glass with silver beads dividing.
