I have an armoire that I purchased several years ago and I'm trying to find out more about it. It has a tag nailed inside that says "A Boxer Product" with a silhouette of a boxer dog. It has two panels on the front that look like carved wood but actually appear to be some kind of plastic (bakelite?). When I bought it I was told that it was from the turn of the last century and was of English origin, but I've been unable to find anything about the Boxer brand. Photos attached. I'm planning to sell this but want to know more before I post it anywhere. If you have any info on this brand and/or this particular piece I would greatly appreciate it!

Before I read your post, I was thinking English.
The square panels are probably pressed board and not plastic. Unless they were put in at a later date.
    I would think 1920s-30s.
Here in CA about $250 retail, if lucky.

Am guessing you are in England? Not a brand we have heard of here in the US. Would think early 20th century but could be as late as 1930. Panels are probably some type of molded wood product. Here in the US, there is a brand called Syroco known for such products and most of this gets called Syroco wood whether actually made by the company.

I would say American because the image of the dog has stiffened erect ears, which is an American thing were they insert plastic inside the ear flap to keep it upright.
Proper pedigree Boxer dogs in Europe are left natural.

    Natural.

I found exactly ONE reference to Boxer brand furniture in a quick Google search.

An auction company in the UK, Addisons Auctioneers (Staindrop Road, Barnard Castle, Co. Durham, DL 12 8TD, UK), mentions an auction on 05 Feb 2015. It's a pdf file from https://www.the-saleroom.com/en-gb/auction-catalogues/addisons and it includes:

"An oak 3-piece bedroom suite, c.1950, in period style, comprising wardrobe, bedside cupboard, and dressing table. The wardrobe fitted with slides, shelves, and a hanging rail, and bearing label A Boxer Product."

The fact that something like the listed suite would probably not be shipped overseas leads me to think it's probably from the UK in the first place.

That's about what I paid. It's a serviceable piece of furniture, but nothing fancy.

I'm in the states. This was purchased from a company that brings over container shipments of antiques from England.

Right, Davey. Actually, I was talking about the auction house selling the suite being in the UK.

Maybe that was too big of an assumption, anyway, since the OP says that it may have come over in a container from the UK, after all. I was thinking that no one would bother shipping things like that, but what do I know.

Which brings up another point, it would be helpful when joining forum to post to at least identify country poster is posting from, save A LOT of counter posts asking for that info.
