Help Identify old textile characteristics.

I'm baffled by this old hand made textile.
Is it a table runner or a very long panel? 104 inches
Lots of Hand stitched work involved.
Bright cranberry and blueberry silk on cotton (or linen)
Is it vintage American, Asian, or ?? Age?
I'm so confused. I'd love your help and input. Thx!

 

looks like it was trimmed down from something larger....
I mean...who folds the design over then hems it..

 

you don't mention a width, but my mother had a number of long cloths such as this that were used as "clothes covers" - when her maid laid out her clothes for the evening she would lay them on a chair and lay this cloth over them (originally intended to keep soot, dust, etc. off the fabrics)

of course, that was a (very) long time ago.............haven't seen it done for over 70 years now.............

Hers were monogrammed in "portrait" so they could not be used for anything else after they no longer used.

 

I would think Asia or India ,it just has that look. I wonder of this was part of a tent or wedding canopy ? It does look cut down,I bet the original panel was enormous.

 

I was getting a South American vibe. Not old, either.
