Featured Hampshire Aladdin Vase with Odd Mark

Howdy,

I just acquired this lovely Hampshire vase at an Estate Sale. It looks very authentic compared to the other examples by Hampshire I found online. However I notice the mark which looks hand drawn on the base is missing the "P".

I don't believe it's a fake based on the how exactly it compares to the other examples of this design. I wonder if it was an early piece and a simple mistake when it was made?

Thoughts?

 

It's very pretty. I don't see where Hampshire Pottery used all caps but I could be wrong and probably am. It does look like their serpent bud vase though.

 

Very odd! Found another one. Surprisingly, they do not address the misspelling but do consider it authentic. Think this bears some more research.

I might add that this looks right to me but you never know. In the early 90s the market was flooded with fake arts and crafts pottery coming out of New England somewhere. They were very convincing fakes and a couple pieces found their way to a high-end show in Chicago where I viewed them. They were soon pronounced as fakes and pulled from sale. Glazes were very similar to this and execution was very good. However, the marks were good attempts at mimicking the originals. I can't see someone trying to deceive, misspelling a mark. This seems more like something coming out of Asia and deliberately marking slightly differently.
