When I used baking soda, some red rubbed off. No bakelite smell either. None of the beads seem to be alike, but they're internally flawless and show orange when you hold them up to the light. The necklace is short , all of 14 inches with 10-11mm beads. It weighs 26 grams on my letter scale. Before I list it, what is it???

No formaldehyde smell, if you're wondering, and it doesn't react to blacklight.

I'm wearing canvas shorts. They get warm for sure, but not hot. So... jury's still out.

The look like faceted amber from the late 1800s to early 1900s that have been restrung.
Maybe I shouldn't have said "hot". If they get fairly warm rubbing on cotton, I would bet on them being amber.

You can cross faturan off the list. I assume they don't feel cold, or you wouldn't be asking.;)

We can but hope. It would make sense of the length; Victorian women were smaller. My dad's grandmother was five feet nothing, and she wasn't unusual.

Originally they would have been knotted in between each bead. If the thread broke one or two beads could have been lost. So they were probably a tad bit longer.

On a side note, I just love how I don't realize I'm not typing the last letter of words. Have noticed I seem to be doing that a lot lately.
Obviously it should have been "They"

It happens to me all the time if I'm using tablet instead of a real keyboard. Bluetooth strikes again!
