It's been a while since I last posted anything. Covid-19, work challenges, and all my stuff in storage made for an interesting 4 months. Having sold the house, I finally am no longer "homeless", having bought another house, and am now moved in and mostly unpacked. I am glad to have moved close to my parents in their later years.

I had them over for a visit, and my mother had to go through the house to check out the family heirlooms and where they were in their new home. Now that we will be able to visit regularly, I can ask her more details about some of the antiques I have gotten over the years. One of the items we talked about today was what she called an Amberina oil lamp that she gave to my wife recently. She said it was a favorite item of her aunts, and came from the family farm. I had never heard that term before, so I figured I would share a couple pictures of it today.

I can't see the base under the rigaree(sp). Is it yellow?
Amberina glass is amber color on the bottom and changes to red as it moves to the top.

This looks more like cranberry with amber glass rigaree.
Stevens and Williams did a lot of rigaree, but I see an American collar, so the glass is probably American which would rule out Stevens and Williams.

Maybe @Cherryhill will know the glass maker.

Maybe @Iowa Jayhawk or @Brazos can help with the lamp.

    I don't see a size.
Is this under 8 inches? If so it would be a miniature lamp.

Sorry, I was just looking again.
The two reds (the shade and the font) look different.
I think the shade was not original to the lamp.

    It measures 9 3/4" tall.

Sorry about that. I forgot that size is one of the first questions usually asked, and completely forgot to measure it.

Edited: I just took another look at it, and it does appear to fade to the lighter color. I'll have a better picture up in a few minutes.

I noticed that too, as I was taking the pictures. I agree they are different colors.

Edit: The photo seems to accentuate the color difference. It really is barely noticeable in person, and if I hadn't been looking for it because of the photo I took, I probably wouldn't have noticed at all.

Maybe it would look different under natural light. I can check again tomorrow.

What does stand out more is that the top and bottom pieces are two different patterns.

Using a very old Warman's - Amberina was first made in 1883 by the New England Glass company.
The trade name Amberina was first used by Libbey Glass.

    Yes, I think so too.
I don't think that is the original shade.

I think it should be more like this.

Hopefully, Tom will see this and comment.

I agree with Cluttered, While the color does fade from top to bottom, (or vise versa) It is ruby, not amberina. If the amber feet/rigaree (yes, ruffles) were not there, it wouldn't look like amber. New England Glass became Libbey, same company, different location, New England was in Boston/Cambridge, Libbey in Toledo, Ohio. If I were to guess at the manufacturer, I'd think British.
