Brass item ID help

    I was wondering if someone could help me ID this brass item or what would you call it? Looks like some tupe of holder. Its from Baltimore hotel in NY. It was pat in 1896. Thank you for any info!

    You don't give size but it does appear to be a match holder.

    How do you know the Hotel Baltimore was in New York?

    I just thought it was since it had Baltimore on it. Maybe I'm wrong.

    New Baltimore is in New york. Could be Maryland

    The only one I can find is in North Baltimore, Ohio but, of course, there might have been others.

    One in Kansas City too. Think this more likely (at least in terms of size and amenities.)
