Pretty thing. Speaking of which.... This is my $100 outlay today. I hit an antique store I visit occasionally. It's mostly furniture, but ...whoops. 14k gold and probably moonstone (maybe mother of pearl) ring, sterling bamboo cross, pewter or aluminum artisan pin and ... pearl, enamel and hard stone cameo mourning brooch with hair compartment on the back. And an inscription, dated 1837. Bridget Rachael Deane, died 1837 age 82. Stylistically the piece is later, and it has a Victorian repair on the hinge, but I just about fell over when I found it. I haven't gone over it for marks yet. DSCF5791.JPG DSCF5792.JPG but...whoops.

I am intrigued by the graphics in the last four rows in the last photo. I tried looking up any "advertising" phrases/slogans for Schrafft's candy but couldn't (readily) find any.

Hmmm, I know what I would have had as "copy" or "slogan" to go with what looks like a "person" with feet in the air diving for/searching out the candy he/she wants.

"Head over heels for Schrafft's candy." ;) :D  :shame:

    Very nice finds everyone.

Peggy, I have sold some Vera over time, mostly tea towels and napkins and was pleased with my profits. I have some more here to sell, but I hate taking pics of tea towels and scarves. Drives me batty in my small apt.

There is a seller on etsy that has a faithful repeat buyer who buys ONLY Vera tea towels at very high prices.
We should all be that lucky.

The only way I would buy those Madera linens is if they had a label on them. I am by no means an expert so I would need proof they are that. But boy that is some nice dough to make.

I do love shipping linens tho, takes little to no effort and they can not break in transit.

And I bought this Trobriand carving for $15. I think the Schrafft's was a better pick but I'm going to mount this guy on the stairs to the beach.

evelyb - I love the cameo pin!!! Hopefully you will find out some additional information.:happy::happy:

anund - That candy display is very cool indeed. Your sweetheart has a good eye.:happy::happy:

pearls - some Madeira also have a little metal clip like is shown at this site.

    http://saganewsblogs.blogspot.com/2015/07/madeira-linens-little-history.html

I got the large pieces I bought photographed last weekend, so this weekend is the linens & the other smalls. I also have some scarves that include some signed Vera ones & some unused placemats/napkins that are also Madeira.

My biggest quandary is how do I want to list them.:confused::confused::confused: I am tempted to list it for auction & let them fight it out, but the way ebay searches go I am sometimes afraid the right people would not find the listings.:eek::eek::banghead::banghead::banghead::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

I love the cameo -- appears to be in very good condition. And having the name on it is a bonus. I hope you get a lot for it!

Thanks. Me too.(LOL) I've found one or two before, but none this good and none with the deceased person's name on it.

That's one I didn't even think of. I'll have to get a better shot. Something discolored the gold, so it made it harder for me to identify. I'll have to try taking a sunshine cloth to it and see what happens.

Thanks MOS - I did so and found Sklo 1032 vase by Schmid - which looks very similar - but mine seems to be an inch taller than those, and more "squatty" looking - ie: wider. Maybe mine is a copy of sorts?
