Pottery lamp (formerly a jar) Chinese?

Would love a few eyes more eyes on this. Lidded pottery jar has been turned into a lamp. The plug looks older to me (1950's?) so probably assembled 60+ years ago. Jar measures approx 9 inches, not including socket or base. Bottom has spots where the glaze did not cover (not chips).

We took it apart to get a look at the bottom of the jar, nothing written on the pottery jar. Although that base piece has a sticker, I think it only refers to the base, not the make of the lamp or anything.

One thing I noted, the clay on this is fairly coarse to the touch.

Older Chinese jar? Other thoughts? Thanks!

Should I pursue additional research on this? Realize this is a hard one.

Its a bit odd in that it isn't the colorful decorative vase you normally see these modified vase lamps made out of.

Maybe one question for now. Does this vase look like it could possibly be Chinese?

 

My opinion:
The jar looks like studio ware.
Only the base is Chinese. You can find those stands easily.
The wiring looks 1960s-70s.

 

I can't tell about the bottom hole, but the top one looks like it was made to be a lamp, rather than converted. I think studio pottery, also.
