Please tell anyone you know in DC area to come get these pallets! This is our second event, at last one in the spring we got rid of 100+ pallets in 3 days; this time we're two days into it and NO takers yet! Must be the hot, humid weather!

It was too nasty to go out, even for free stuff? It was bad here; it must have been really horrible there.

It has been hot and nasty in NVA. I like the crate but I need to get rid of too much before I could use them. I can't believe no one is taking them. Heck.....fire wood for free if nothing else. Of course thinking of a roaring fire in mid July is a bit of a challenge.:)

Reposted the link on Facebook. I have some friends down there and it can't hurt to try.

Well after a week there are only a few left and I'm still getting emails via CL "any left?" This AM's was from Melissa, told her not as many but several still here. Someone even took one of the 8' x 8' pallets, they had to have come with a truck to take that one, it must have weighed over 300 lbs. I was tempted to keep it to mount a few pedestal grinders and buffers but am glad someone took it so I'll have to use the non-working scale platform (a textured steel plate) to mount those items, it'll work out better.

Thanks to you who passed the link on to others, I think it helped.

Here's one of the pedestal tools I need to mount, a 12", 2 hp grinder/wire wheel that weighs about 600 lbs. It obviously needs 3-phase power (4 wires in cord) but we've had an issue with whether it was set up to run on 208 or 480 volts, all 4 manufacturer's tags are long gone. My online advisors think it takes 480 volts. I'll test it on 480 volts within a couple weeks and see.

That would present a problem. Does the maker's name provide any clues? I'm seeing an AB up at the top.

No name on the grinder part, AB is Allen-Bradley company that made the magnetic starter in that little box. Looking at Eboo offerings of similar appearance could indicate "Queen City" as source. Anyway when the 208-480 volt transformer gets here this week I'll grease the bearings, hook it up on the test stand and push the red button with a long stick to see what happens! That's called a "smoke test."

As in hook it up and see if anything smokes. Been there, done those. If it's new equipment I'd call it a burn test - turn it on and leave it a bit and make sure it doesn't burn up on entry.

The AB Manual starter should have an overload device in it. (Heck the chart for the device might still be on the inside cover) If you wanted to check what device was installed, you could figure out if it was set up for a 208v or 480v motor.

    A 2HP @ 208v should draw around 7.5 amps
    A 2HP @ 480v should draw around 3.2 amps

If the cover doesn't have a chart, let me know what overload device is in it and I can check my charts at work for you.

    If it has the following

    N17 or N18 or N19 - my money is on 480v
    N26 or N27 or N28 - my money is on 208v

Yes, you are correct. I've had discussions on a forum and they wanted to see the inside of the AB box, and they keyed on the N19 heaters and like you, said 480 volts. I took many more pix, like of the 9 wires coming from the Motor after I unbolted and lifted the motor.
