Hi, I'm brand new at forums, not sure how it works. Ive got alot of questions and not many answers, so I most likely won't be very helpful, but hoping to expand my knowledge. I've got a pewter tankard from the 1800s, with so many markings and numbers it makes my head spin. I can make out the Yates and Birch pretty clearly so I'd date it in the 1800s. There's also intitals F.W. and numerous crowns and measurements. Can anyone help me identify them please?
Welcome; it is best to start a separate thread for each item, distinct from an "introducing myself" thread; and to include photos; others will be along to post advice on how to post photos. It can be confusing at first, but I'm sure you'll get it all figured out.
welcome to the forum Legendsneverdie Great advice from all_fakes to start a new thread, someone will be able to help
. Thank u, I tried uploading photos, but files were too large. I'm p Not sure what to say to introduce myself.... Brown hair, brown eyes, long walks on the beach at sunset.... Lover of all things antique and unusual
It looks like you are getting the technique of posting pictures, and you are trying to post all of the marks. That is good. One thing that was mentioned above is that this is the Introductions thread, and often it is better to post actual questions in a different place in the forums. For this one, the Metalware section may be most appropriate. That's because some people don't check the Introductions often. (I'm one of those who do not.) I also can't help with that particular item but maybe somebody else will be able to.
