Really nice authentic Persian rug. My grandpas main collectible was Persian rugs

    IMG_0792.JPG given to my mom decades ago... some severe moth damage from being stored incorrectly (never put a carpet on top of carpet!!!)
    :( but it still is beautiful and measures atleast 6 foot by 10-12 foot.. is this qishqash or the other kind he collected??

    Yes probably Pakistan, in Uzbek Bokhara style. Bokhara is the same as Bukhara, a city in Uzbekistan. Uzbekistan used to be part of the USSR.
    Pakistani-made doesn't mean it is a fake, the style traveled but kept the original name.

    Sorry, I don't know the name, do you mean Kashgar?
    The Kashgar style is also Central Asian, but more elegant than Bokhara.

    Yes, the Turkmen style is similar.
    Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan are neighbouring countries in the heart of the Silk Road, and have always attracted many different cultures. There are Uzbeks and Turkmens in both countries, as well as important communities of Tajiks, Kazakhs and ethnic Persians.
