I bought this figuring it was a child's room divider or screen. Looking around can't really find many child's screens. This is only 48" tall so I figure that is what it has to be. Is there another name for these and what do you guys think about the age?

    TIA, Bryan

Keep the drafts off of the kid's cot/crib, not for dressing or privacy.

Fabric looks 1960s. Could even have been a sheet.

Most probably revamped later, the little screens original fabric probably deteriated over time .. I have antique dolls and some came in their original clothes, which were often papery and falling apart, some I could save .. others not. The little old screen would look great with appropriate old cloth .. silk would be lovely bit it was more likely to have been a sturdy cotton or linen, Joy.

How about Victorian bentwood stick and ball child's screen?

I wouldn't know an actual 'name' for them, but could be described as 'old draft screen for baby cradle'). Homes had no central heating way back then and were often very drafty .. older girl children would wear cotton frilled hats on their heads at night, boys wore woolen caps .. all to keep the draft off their heads. That's about all I know about them .. there was an old one knocking around in my Grans house in England, the fabric was tattered, she had 6 children so it got loads of use, Okay, I'm rattling on again, sorry, .. Joy.

    Hi,
I house I grew up in had no central heat and it gets cold in western Pennsylvania. I slept in a partially open dresser drawer when a baby. It was to keep the drafts off me. Also the wood sides were an insulation.

Aren't parents wonderful Greg !! What a cosy and warm spot to place you .. off the floor too, such love. I remember when I was small my delicate baby brother slept in a white iron crib and she had wrapped blankets in and out of the rails .. a dresser drawer would have been FAR easier but I guess she never thought of that. I asked my mother if I was sickly like my brother and she said "YOU? .. you were ALWAYS strong as an ox, always yelling and screeching .. you NEVER shut your mouth !!! :( Hahaha .. Joy.
