This silver(I believe) mermaid by Gordon Barnett - found at the local Salvation Army for just a few bucks - I looked him up and he has been making a line of silver bell pendants for the last 30 years - but before that was making jewelry in Arizona. I sent him a message to see if he can tell me any more about this piece - we'll see if he replies I just love it! She's about 2 1/2" long.

Interesting ...and for sale by a seller named "god" with only one low quality pic - I don't know how some people are sucessful at selling things with listings like that - but apparently they do because they have over 7K positive feedback. Glad you found that though. Thanks!

Thank you for the great information!!! Brad did identify the wood as burled walnut on the furniture thread..... this furniture is huge, unusual because rooms were smaller back then.... my favorite is the bed frame, which has the carved columns going up on all four corners.....

 

I seriously love this. I love mermaid everything, especially jewelry. How long is the necklace drop, chain wise? Let us know if you are putting it up for sale.

Not too much going on here.....there is a lady who sets up once in a blue moon at a little flea market in the next town. She was there while I was running errands, this is the lady I missed the beaded conch shell necklace from.

She has a dollar box, a three dollar box, and the nicer sterling (mostly newer) is in cases. I got there late, and she did bring out a $5 box just for me, so here are some finds.

The old brass chimera ring was in the dollar box. The tongues are serpents... one side has a little serpent tongue dent, won't mess with it.

This is a pendant from the $5 box- I found a perfect chain for it for a dollar elsewhere.

$5 box- Venetian glass, not sure what particular kind, I need to reattach one
clasp end. Reminds me of Christmas colors.

On Sunday, I hit another flea market, very slow, kicking myself for not buy some furniture that would have resold very well, but I am not really good with that stuff, it was to be someone else's treasures. I had to have this piece, not sure what it is, the guy said it was a prayer stand, I haven't seen another one like it on the internet. Going in the upstairs guest room.

 

That "prayer stand" (?) has some serious decorator potential..............me likey!

 

The total chain length is 24". Most likely I will be putting it up on the dreaded Ebay soon I'll let you know. It is just beautiful though!

 

Another makeover. I asked about refinishing this (new) table in another thread a while ago. I felt the wood pattern looked busy and overall the finish looked extremely cheap.

Below first before and then after -pictures. Don't be fooled by the way it looks in the before pictures, the table was so much uglier in real life. Really artificially and cheaply finished.
So I stripped the lacquer and the stain and re-stained it and coated it with wax. I also took off the hardware and made the drawer into "a secret drawer" that looks just like another panel in the table.

Oh how I crave that necklace ! I assure you Id wear it too ! Marko,Im 95% sure that table came from Home Goods or Pier one about 10 years ago. I was very into the Moulin Rouge look at the time and considered it. If memory serves there was a console too. Now I wish Id have bought it! LOL !

Awhile ago I mentioned a thrift/consignment store in our area I skipped that only took cash. I had a chance to visit it today. Yowza-ba-bowza. I only shopped half ot it (realized that once I got home) and still left things behind this time. I already will be returning next week to (hopefully/likely still there) purchase a very large set of china for resale that will be discounted. They have a counter that is the 'Consignment Counter' - for the half hour I was there, it had a continual line of locals dropping of antiques and vintage wares. So... yeah, I know where to shop. I found my new favorite store.

All of these items together cost just under $50.00. I am leaving for an overnight trip, but will start an individual thread for a few of these items later. Enjoy the day!

Frankoma Acadien Classique Dinner Plate - Mint:



They continually put out new items. Like non-stop (they even told me so!). I literally walked around one side, walked back and they put this beauty in the place I removed the above plate from. I originally thought it was early Brush McCoy, but now I'm wondering if it may be something else. I'll do a thread later:
