Somerset Light Infantry embroidery

    This was at a garage sale, no idea who JHB is or was. It's embroidered image area is 14ins high by 11ins wide, thing is I thought I might frame it but don't know if that's what was meant to happen to it. Was it meant to go on a kitbag or banner? It's been tacked onto a bit of old wallpaper. Any suggestions please. Thanks. Ps sorry about my knee intrusion and the fuzzy pic. image.jpg image.jpg

    To me one of the most interesting aspects of this piece is that "It's been tacked onto a bit of old wallpaper." Hmmmm?

    Yes, I thought maybe to stiffen it up as the canvas is quite thin.

    Jellalabad was the name of the regiments barracks in use until 1999, it was named after one of their famous battles.

    The Battle of Jellalabad in 1842 was an Afghan siege of the isolated British outpost at Jellalabad about 80 miles east of Kabul. The siege was lifted after five months when a British counterattack routed the Afghans, driving them back to Kabul.

    I think its a hobbyists or soldiers wifes work, too big for a blazer badge.
    I`d tidy it up and frame it.
