Are these seed pods? Or clay?

    Any J -
    Is yours marked?
I have one of these as well, came in the same lot as the other piece. Mine doesn't show any tarnish. It looks and feels more like aluminum than silver.

Mine isn't marked, but tests as silver. They probably made them in different materials, to make them affordable for (almost) anyone.
The image is of saint Anthony of Padua. The Christ child appeared to him in meditation, so he is often depicted with the child.
Saint Anthony is invoked when you've lost something, he heads the lost and found department of the church.;) My grandmother gave me this tiny family heirloom when I was little, so I would be reminded of that. She also taught me a little rhyme to say, which translates to 'saint Anthony, dear friend, please let me find my (whatever item I had lost)'.

Mine was, "Dear Saint Anthony, please come around, for something is lost and can't be found."

Learnt in second grade, and still used and useful a century or so later. Just ask me about the time I lost $1300.00!!

Probably seed pods of some sort. I've seen those before.

LOL! I THOUGHT I had deposited the money in the bank. A week or so later, I went to the ATM to withdraw the magnificent sum of $20. The slip spat out by the machine kindly informed me that I had a dollar and change left!

    PANIC!!

A visit inside the bank also informed me that the money had never been deposited. GAAAK!

Three days later, having looked in, around, under and over everything in my 11-room house, I sat at my kitchen table with a cup of tea (I only drink it when I am in England, or sick), and let the tears drip. Then the light bulb went off. Pray to St. Anthony! :)

Hadn't called on St. Anthony for quite ages, as, while I do occasionally mislay something, I almost never actually lose an item. However, I closed my eyes, and prayed my little prayer a few times. Then a few more times.

The first thing I saw when I opened my eyes was a book sitting on top of the bookcase under the telephone. :woot:

And I remembered! I had stuffed the money in there when someone telephoned "so that I would remember where I had put it," as I hadn't yet finished the book. Of course, at the time, I had about six thousand books, out of which probably 50 or so were here and there, out of the shelves and all over the house. And at least 15 were in reading progress. But that was the book I hadn't checked.

    Once of many, many times!

That is the centuries old issue of the nature of Christ solved, diaper, so definitely human. Always glad to solve age old issues, thanks Bev, a weight off my mind.
(Apologies to those in the Eastern and other churches who adhere to the divine nature of Christ.)

Well, If I couldn't identify you by the number, my greeting would be determined by the length of time that has elapsed since my last dose of medication..........if the pain killer has not kicked in you may be greeted with "House of Detention, Conjugal Meetings Scheduling Office - Please hold - THIS!!!!!"

If I were a bit more mellow, you'd most likely hear "HI! I'm High! Are you High! Lois is here, but can't come to the phone, so you are stuck with HI! Yes, I'm High!"

When my father didn't feel like a lengthy phone conversation, he'd answer saying: "Jansen Coaltraders". He wasn't named Jansen, and certainly was no coaltrader.

    "Tony, Tony, turn around.
What was lost, must be found."

My Jewish aunt used this, to great advantage.

I had a friend who answered phone petitions, etc., etc., with a Horrified, "I can't do that! I'm a Roman Catholic!!"

    (I steal it occasionally.)

I am only curious if that comic strip is still widely known. It has been studied for the past 60 or so years as a fairly accurate portrayal of random life in middle America. And, yeah, it IS connected to the Beetle Baily comic strip in a very American way.....................
