I got this bracelet at a clean out a few weeks ago. It is pretty spectacular in person - lots of sparkle. It measures about 3 3/8" wide and 7 3/4" long.
    I am guessing 1940s?
I have really looked closely at it all over with a loupe. The only mark I see is a capital G. Can people tell me who made this and how old it is? I have some customers houndng me to price it.

I'd say the bracelet looks deco, but the case looks more mid-century. Deco did make the leap across the war, so my very idle guess would be mid '50s.

It's pretty, but I'm not seeing high quality.
The heavy plating makes me think 1950s-60s.
Haven't had all my coffee yet, so I could be wrong

    Thanks for the quick replies!
Does anyone know what G might stand for?

Not a clue. I'd second the 50s, btw; the plating is all wrong for pre-WWII jewelry.

The G could be the stone setter's mark, sometimes they marked a piece they worked on.

If I had it at a show in my area (Cape Cod) I would ask $45 for it.

    Hi Book,
I am a little late on this post. I just found it and solved your question about the G. It is really simple it stands for Greg. I will gladly pay for shipping it back to me.:rolleyes:

    Thanks Ruth and Marie.
Marie - a stone setter would bother to put their mark on a piece even when the maker didn't?
Sorry Greg - I've got several customers waiting for it. :sorry:

    Hi,
I agree with y'all as to the age. There was a jewelry company in Hong Kong named G and Company, that specialized in rhinestone costume jewelry in the 1950's to early 1960's. They used a capital G for their marking, as well as a "Made in Hong Kong" when space permitted. It is definitely the right style and quality for them...

Probably the stone setters mark, it's common to find jewelry like this with just their mark. I would say early-mid 1950's and I would ask $40.00 or so, depending on the stone conditions, etc.

The photo is too bright and not a close up to see how the stones were "set". There would no reason for an assembly line worker to mark a piece of costume jewelry.

Here's a quick picture of one of mine I wore yesterday, very similar. Mine is marked with an 'R' in a square, a mark that turns up quite a bit in this type of jewelry but no one has been able to figure out exactly who the mark belongs to. Mine dates from the 1940's Deco Revival. r.jpg

Not correct holly, it was done all the time, even with glued in stones.

Let's see if I have a better photo....

    Thanks Calico.
