Such fun finds. looking forward to seeing what other goodies you found, Bakersgma! I love that we can still find Roseville sometimes out at sales. Sadly, a piece I found for my personal collection was one of the only things broken in the move. But I'm also glad it was one of the only things broken during the move.

    Very nice finds everyone.

Love the pickle pin. Long time ago, I found a Heinz linen tea towel with many varieties of their condiments on it.

You all seem to find items that are great and lowered priced. Here I am finding junk at high prices.

I bought this (new!) urn and it was one of those boring unpainted ones. With chalk paint and a few hours of work, I created a weathered-looking paint coat. Looks pretty convincing in my opinion, well the rust is real. I sprayed it with water around a 100 times after painting and processing it:

Looks nice! I just found this in a pile o'stuff I only half remembered having. It wants to be plique a jour, but the "enamel" looks like epoxy. Lord alone knows what the metal is, but most likely brass. DSCF5584.JPG

    That is a nice cross/picture, evelyb30!

bluemoon -- you did a great 'do-it-yourself' job. It is surprising how long it takes, but it is very rewarding. It really looks nice. When we moved, I was going to donate a corner shelf I must-a had for 20-years, just wood as plain as could be. Then I thought.. IF I painted it, what colors would make things 'pop'. So I held-up different colors and ended up with gray. The red/grey combo is my favorite, with a smattering of bold, other colors thrown in. Still pulling things out and decorating the shelf, but so far...:

On the pottery shelf is one of my most favorite finds ever, you'll never pry it from me till I'm in the ground, an antique Pewabic Pottery ashtray with the paper label. Found close to 30-years ago for .50 cents.

    Sad find.

    3am, 15th August 1855.

Panicky letter, "come immediately here, my beloved Duke is I fear - I fear- fast leaving us"

Written by the wife of ,Edward St Maur, 11th Duke Of Somerset, probably to Henry Alford

Not the most fun, to be sure, but even the writer is dead of old age long since. Today I found ...one of those heat shield things for my car, the better to keep from cooking while out looking for treasure. (sigh) OTOH, the annual Rummage Sale at Beth Emmanuel Synagogue is tonight!

Last night's score and what I found today. The top image: olive wood mezuzah, D&RG photograph (best guess), a Conrail buckle, and some repair work. Middle: last night's costume stuff. One piece is Israeli modernist brass with a funky amethyst. The bottom: all silver. Some of that is modernist Israeli. The stuff that's headed to the scrapper isn't shown. The brown earrings, btw, are bakelite and the teardrop ones are Persian "story" jewelry. The findings say West Germany, but the dangles are probably Israeli too, done in the Persian style.

Evelyb30, you sure have a lot of temple rummage sales by you with good items.
We have virtually none here which is a shame.

We're down one this year. There are generally three of them, sometimes as many as five. This year one didn't happen, but one that only has one every so often got into the act instead. One I can't get to, it's on Sunday mornings, and one is upcoming. That last never has much, but some of the people still speak Yiddish so I go just to listen if nothing else.

I predict Yiddish will be a forgotten language soon. My parents spoke it as did my grandparents, so I was able to learn some. They mostly spoke it when they didn't want us kids to know what they were saying.:D
But nowadays, at least here, I find many families are not speaking it anymore so their kids will never learn any of it.

Oh I forgot to say, your finds at the rummage sale are great.
    :)
