Hey guys, we have these two pieces which are supposed to be from Vietnam... Was wondering if anyone had info or could confirm or deny our thoughts. The piece seems as if it is made from finely cracked egg shells which were then Lacquered over. I put detailed pictures so you all could see.

Both pieces measure 23.5" x 16" one just stands portrait and one landscape.

    Thanks in advance!

Hi, I am by no means an expert but it does look like this is Vietnamese. They definitely have and do make this type of artwork from eggshells. I've also seen them use rice grains. These examples are very nice. Do they make them throughout Southern Asia, I don't know. The top one looks like farmers on the way to a floating market to buy and trade goods. The water buffalo in the other one is a common sight in Vietnam as well.

A nice way to recycle and repurpose something that would otherwise be thrown away.
