    Hello everyone! Picked this piece up at a thrift store and was hoping someone here could help with maybe the year it was made and if it has any value. It appears to be in good condition. Thanks in advance.

    North Dakota School of Mines pottery is very collectible. I'm sure this piece is very desirable among collectors. I hope you can remove the nasty Magic Marker price. I wish thrift stores would stop marking pieces with magic markers.

    Hi,
    Silver polish usually works for me in removing markers.

    Re: date, I wonder if the 6-42 mark indicates that it was made in 1942? Margaret Cable worked from 1910 to 1949. You can probably contact the collector's society and ask if they know more about this piece. It is probably very valuable.

    Hi Everyone!!
    I did hear back from the North Dakota Pottery Society and going to post their message below. Thanks for all of your help!! It does seem to be a very good find!!

    That is a great piece of pottery in my opinion. Why, I’d even be willing to double the price crayoned on the bottom. Just the kind of guy I am. But seriously, I can find no mention of this piece in the records, which leads me to believe it may have been made prior to the numbering system adopted in 1938. I would venture to say it may have been made by Miss Cable in the 20’s. The white clay color and extremely clear seal makes me think 20’s rather than later. I would value it at $500.00 or more, perhaps even $1000.00 in today’s depressed pottery market. I think this is a wonderful piece, and one I have never seen before. Thanks for contacting the NDPCS website, you sure made my day. Bob Barr

    Welcome to the forum!!! :happy::happy::happy:

    You may need to be careful as to what you use because if I am not mistaken the bottom is unglazed. If it is glazed you may have some leeway in what you can use but an unglazed bottom is likely to absorb & spread the black color.

    I agree wholeheartedly!!! :facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:
