    Hi all,
Hope this is the correct forum for this.
Can anyone tell me anything about this doll please (age, maker, etc)?
She is 9 1/2 inches tall. On the rear of the body there is a stamp that might say "made in England". There is some writing above and below this but it is impossible to read.
    Thanks.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Pretty doll... I don't know enough about these things to sound authoritative. She might be newer, and the body homemade, or she might be older. The paint job on the head looks a little older to me... but the wig doesn't really seem to gibe with the hair that is molded into the bisque. It looks wrong. And I don't recognize the head style from the little I know.

I hope somebody here knows more.

I don't know anymore either, but I tend to agree with your reply.

    I don't believe it is all that old.....thinking 60's?

    Not a quality doll IMMHO.

There are doll people here who should show up eventually, but I am not one of them. However, I'd put the date for this rather unlovely girl earlier -- 30's, or 40's.

I agree with you all, I have collected antique dolls and old doll clothing for years and this doll appears to be a repro. The head is really 60's 70's in style .. the workmanship is poor, and the body appears to be made up of old scraps of fabric .. made to appear as an antique body. Sorry, Joy.

Yes, the head could be a little earlier Silver, but not much. She is a sad girl and probably needs to be loved .. but she wouldn't fit into my collection, Joy.

Can we please see more pictures uploaded directly into the post? A few more pics of the head and how the wig is attached. Another view of the marks would be nice also.
And what is wrong with the her upper forehead...ouch!:nailbiting:

Thanks for all of your replies.
I have had another look and the hair has been glued onto the original moulded bisque.
Tried to get some better pictures of the writing, but it is so faint that it hardly shows.
She came from a box that included quite a few other toys and dolls that I have been able to narrow down to the 30s, 40s & 50s.

Temptation got the better of me and I pulled that nasty wig off.

My assessment remains the same, mid century give or take a few years either way, poorly painted by an amateur .. the eyebrows especially, and the eyes themselves. The body is a put-together of old doll parts and old rags .. poor girl, Joy.
