How much would you pay for a sterling ring?

If you want to resell it. Does 2-3 euros seem like too much for you?

Varies. My most recent purchase was a sterling silver Fossil (signed) ring that weighed in at 5 grams in fine condition for 2 euros. The problem is, I'm new to this whole thing, and I'm not sure if I'm getting good deals or poor deals. I want to get into buying and selling thrift finds, but I feel like I'm just wandering blindly.

It depends on how and where you want to sell.
    Always buy quality.
Look at auction sites and see how much silver jewellery sells for, and why it sells for a certain amount. Sometimes something that looks good, sells for little because it is not fashionable, interesting, exclusive. And sometimes flimsy looking things fetch high prices because they are fashionable, interesting, exclusive.

A lot depends on the ring itself. Good design and quality will always sell, no matter who (didn't) sign(ed) it. Modern mass-production? Not so much, unless a popular designer marked it. It would be easier if we saw the ring.

If the price is lower than melt value, I will usually keep it. If I'm going to sell it, I will need to double my money at least to make it worth it on a quick sale. Usually I keep the really good stuff because they're difficult to sell at my venue (highway sale).

I tend to hoard Israeli stuff; the market hasn't risen on it yet, but it's coming sooner or later. For the rest, buy below melt weight and it's hard to go wrong.

@KevinTN - is highway sale akin to boot sale, flea market, etc? That's not a term I'm familiar with.

A highway sale is where people set up on a specific highway to sell (fields, side of the road, houses). It can be 20-300+ miles and last 2-4 days officially. I will set up for two weeks.

Makes sense. One of those Longest Yard Sale sales.

And it's always quality jewellery, whether modern, Yemenite or a mixture of styles.

I tend to hoard eilat, for the simple reason that the mine is played out. That's always good for prices long term.

It is. And it is a beautiful and popular stone. Whenever we have it in the shop, it doesn't stay long.
