(German?) Navy Shoulder Boards

    I picked up these shoulder boards at a flea market in Germany. I think they're probably West German, but I haven't been able to find a pattern that matches.     With the anchor button would mean navy. That wheel thingie seems to have been the symbol of lieutenant of technical lieutentant in the East German navy. Could have been the same symbol in the West German navy??? There are too many stripes for a Lieutenant. Lieutenant shoulder pads only had 1 wide and 1 thinner stripe or 1 thin?

    Thanks, Susan! Those are great resources.

    The only reason I assumed it was West German is because I'm living in western Germany and have found more military memorabilia from West Germany than East Germany. I'll look more into East German shoulder boards.

    In the US Navy a ship's wheel indicates the rating of Quartermaster.
