    Well!
So much for the British reserve usually shown by OBB!
I can't decide which has been more interesting - this piece or the reactions of those of us that covet it!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, you have to know that when I was growing up, no pop star posters on the wall for me. Instead, Moonrise as taken by Apollo 8. When 13 was in dire straits, I carried a large portable radio round with me for days, glued to the BBC comentary, and wept when the command module came out of radio silence, and we realised the heat shield had held. Spent my first wages on a Portmeirion Apollo 11 mug which I still own. First thing my OH ever gave me was a model Saturn V. I've a friend who is a Real Rocket Scientist who got me a tour round the ISS simulator. When Enterprise visited the UK, I stood on Westminster Bridge watching as the Shuttle carrier 747 flew her down the Thames. At 8, I was borrowing astronomy and spaceflight books from the adult library. And one of my most treasured things is a prop from NCC 1701-D. I learned to read through pulp fiction and Superman comics. In one of my offices, I had a giant inflatable space shuttle hanging from the ceiling.

I've been to the Star Trek display on the USS Itrepid at NYC. Have you looked at that online?
    I have quite a few photos. ;)

I've been to NASA Huntsville, Alabama, Cape Canaveral Florida and saw Voyager II launched and NASA Goddard where a gf's Dad took us where I noted earlier. I have some of the the early Apollo patches and such.

Oh! You have serious space nerd cred @Ownedbybear! If you're ever in Southern California in June, you need to go to the Jet Propulsion Laboratory Open House! It's the coolest day ever if you like science and space exploration! It's incredible what's going on. The early days were awesome, what's going on now is mind boggling. My husband works there...
