I have a matching bedroom set that I inherited from a family member. Unfortunately I can't keep it so I need to find a new home for it.

I remember being told it was a set from the 1930s or 1920s. It is a full size bed, dresser, and vanity that all match. There is also a seat for the vanity but it looks different in design. I am attaching pictures. If anyone could provide any information about this set I would greatly appreciate it. If I knew the correct period it is from and how to describe it properly I will have a much better chance of finding it a new home.

Thanks for you time in advance.

Does it have any maker's marks? Underneath, on the back, in the drawers etc?

Uhmmm, wow? High style whatever it is. I'd guess 1910-1920, give or take. Odds are there were castors under the legs originally; it would be right for the era, and the legs look a little short.

20s for sure. Usually gets referred to as art deco but really too traditional for the style. Style is based on William and Mary furnishing but is far from true to the form. Also called depression era traditional revival furniture.

I appreciate everyone's reply. Thank you.

I checked all over backs, bottoms, drawers, etc. but I didn't find any markings of any kind. evelyb30, you are right, there are the holes for the casters on each leg. I guess I need to find replacements? Are those usually a common size or will I have to take measurements of the castor holes?

Not knowing much about antiques myself would anyone be able to recommend a way I can determine a "ball-park" or possible range of value for a set like this? I've found dealers locally that will do an appraisal for a fee but it would be nice if I could have a general idea of value before I invest in appraisals.

Thanks again for all your replies.

Value is really variable depending on location and selling venue. Also, condition is critical with this type of furniture but it looks like that is probably not an issue with your set. Looks to be very good. Here in my semi-rural Midwest US location, your three pieces might be $400.00 or so at retail in a nice shop and as little as $100.00 at country auction. You will often see furniture like this priced higher but I believe the above to be a realistic selling price. You would probably do better in some larger cities or other locations.
