    Thinking mid-Victorian ca. 1870 corner chair. Built to last but not a alot of value due to the usual factors, i.e. the depression in prices for brown furniture and the fact that it's a chair, which always have less value than you think they should. At auction in the U.S. Midwest I'd expect to see $50-$100 on a sunny day.

    Yeah, I think so too, the seat looks like it could be Elm. Late 19th century and not a lot of value at the moment for victorian furniture, especially single chairs

    I agree, English Victorian corner chair.
    The market for traditional antiques seems to be getting stronger in the uk now, have seen these chairs fetching £250.00 upwards

    Thank you all so much for your help, I knew nothing about it, it was my father in law's mothers chair before I bought it off him for £50.. I'm sure it was worth it! I just couldn't find anything similar of this style anywhere online, it's nice to at least know its age

    James is correct.

    My antique furniture dealer friend says its, Elm and Ash, Bobbin turned 1890.

    It would retail around £70, so yes you bought well.
