I bought this from a friend who owns a 2nd hand furniture shop that he fills by buying storage units at auction.
I thought these were really unusual legs & arms that are one piece in a 'St. Louis Arch" style. They all also have a S like shape that are the armrests.
Does this style have a name?
My girlfriend asked me if this set was made by Woodard?
Any idea of age? (mid century modern?)
I thank you & I appreciate any help.

I'm thinking 60s-80s. Don't know what style to call it, but I like "St. Louis Arch" style.

Just about the coolest design for a set of patio furniture I've seen.

Right? I've sold a few sets during last couple of years but haven't see this style before - I liked it as soon as I saw it (and $60 for the whole set just made them a no brainer!)

First off, it is a cool set! I have absolutely no idea who made it or the age, but if I had to GUESS I might ask whether it was more of a 1990s set rather than mid century.

Also it appears to have been painted as the black is coming off in parts.

Keep the research up, though. All of my thoughts here are just guesses. I would think even if you can't find the maker, it would be a great resale item just based on uniqueness and design.

Looks older to me. And the fact that it's been repainted supports that it's been around a while. Here's what Woodward's doing now. A much more modern sensibility. Oh, and great price, by way.

Funny arm rests right? they look ...fragile?
I had a patio set of Woodard spun fiberglass - it brought a pretty penny when I sold it

Oh I love it! Is each piece super heavy, or what? (Not particularly a sign of age, although that could be, I just wonder because I love this set!)

    Thanks for the tag.
Afraid this isn't something I know much about.
I would have guessed 1990s patio set.

Not sure it has been repainted. More like it has been out in the weather and not covered up, for a few years.

The Woodard furniture factory is in my Hometown (Owosso Michigan) Back in the 70's they used to have a 1 day a year warehouse sale of their overstocks, dented or discontinued furniture. My folks would go every year and come back with lots of great bargains......ahh the memories.

Well, I know at least once a year I'd have most of my valuables in pawn to be able to get more that day!

I don't think a higher end black wrought iron chair would have black peeling and showing white underneath... that's why I was thinking painted unless it is some kind of cast metal that was painted/finished in black.

If wonder if you could get some info on whether Woodard or not, Debora's photo of a recent piece, definitely has some similarity. Maybe send photos to the Woodard furniture company?

I always thought the good wrought iron stuff was powder-coated, which lasts a long time.

    Hi,
Good wrought stuff had forged "penny" feet not capped or straight legged. Powder coated came in much later.

Don't think it is wrought iron. Probably aluminum with a good paint job.
If it's been sitting outside for 20-30 years uncovered, it's not going to last.

I have some of my mom's Brown and Jordan, it's peeling paint. It's older though, bought in the 70s.
