I am so grateful that I found this forum. I just recently started collecting as a new hobby and everyone here has been so helpful. As I learn I will share.

I picked up two pieces today and I have no idea what they are. I need an assist in identification. I am hoping the first piece is silver the second I know is silver plate.
    Thanks in advance.

From the marks the first one appears to be silver plate too.

The cup looking item is a teaglass holder, missing its insert. What else if anything so you want to know about it?

I’ve been looking at playing card holders to try and identify the first one but I’m not sure that’s actually what it is. Is the base inside cloth or paper? Also how big is it?

Size is definitely important, I agree. I was thinking matchbox holder, but need size to know if that's logical.

    Wow, you guys are fantastic.

    Measurements are 4 3/8" Tall
2 5/8" wide at the top
2 3/4" wide at the base

Looks like cigarette holder is the winner.

The base inside is bare metal and the entire inside has a gold hue to it... maybe brass? It cleaned up real well but has some wear on the bottom. 20200805_183040 (2).jpg 20200805_183050 (2).jpg 20200805_183103 (2).jpg

Looks like it's about the right size for Prince Albert in a can.
