Silver Marcasite Brooch

    Looking a bit of help if anyone would know anything about this brooch its sterling silver marcasite and is signed .There is a sterling mark then some writing as follows, 2/1746 cant make out next word followed by LXANX then a name Paul steiv thats what the name looks like the last letter looks like a V i have tried other letters but found nothing.     Seconded. I can't see a darned thing. It looks like a 40s design, but the hinge is all wrong, and it once had a rollover clasp. Luckily those work just fine as C clasps too.

    Hi was able to get this close up the marks are written on the brooch and it says sterling along one edge. P6220658.JPG

    looks like that puppy has had a rough life...and some dealer scratched a lot of marks on it...

    Don't know anything about dogs as this is the jewellery board, looking some help to identify this signed brooch which reads 2/746 can't read next line then L x or y ANXS and Paul Steiv .Have tried other letters for the surname but nothing any genuine replies appreciated thank you.

    With the new photos,the piece looks like a poorly cast and finished student piece.

    Thanks for all the replies I was just curious as I picked it up with some other silver brooches and didn't notice the sterling mark or the writing until I cleaned it up.
