Featured John F. Folinsbee painting Help with identification and value

So I looked up John F. Folinsbee problem is i don't know the name
of this painting, AND I can barely make out the initials at the bottom
HELP!

 

I think the letters on the bottom are John then something so if it's by John F Folinsbee then I'd guess it's his sig.

She looks familiar

 

Could be a portrait of Folinsbee's wife Ruth (née Baldwin.) Why don't you contact the Art Trust?

(of course it does say Property of so you'd think they'd have a pic of it, or actually, might want it back???)

 

I would definitely contact them. I wonder how something with that label on the back got away from the Trust? If they sold it you would think the label would have been removed.

Yeah i know. thing is my mom had a very large art collection. she also knew alot of people so her somehow being given this or being able to purchase it would not surprise me at all

 

From little I can see, looks like artist's signature.

Hey everyone thanks for your responses. I thought about it, my mother had to have had this painting for over 40 yrs im guessing it was in the attic at our old house... She may have gotten it through an auction or something. Im going to email the trust this evening to try and get a background story and more info on it... hopefully they will get back soon and i will keep everyone posted.. thanks again

Update

 

Hello everyone, I emailed the trust last week and never got a response about the painting. So i ended up contacting freemans auction to see if they could tell me anything about it..She said it could be his wife but no way of really telling.

She also told me Follinsbee work is not one of the most popular artists that they auction off but she did say to try other auctions in the area.. I will trying emailing the trust one more time and contacting a few more auctions to see what they have to say about it. (The lady at freemans also told me if they find out anything else about it, or it becomes more of a demand for his art she would notify me)....

I'll update again in a few days to let u guys know if i find anything else out...


And the mystery continues.... lol
