Evening, I recently bought a table from a barn sale and after cleaning it up have found an impressed A&NCSLmakers stamp underneath- would love to find out roughly what age it is. Many thanks Becky
The top is pyrography and that heart shape sure doesn't seem like something they would make. Wonder if wood from something else was used to make this.
I wonder if this was done in a military hospital of some kind? Maybe occupational therapy of some kind? They did that during/after both Wars.
That would really appeal to me. I love nothing more than buying a piece of furniture and learning so much. Good for future auctions too !! Appreciate you taking your time to reply
I can second this theory - I have paintings and furniture that were made by an Uncle as therapy after WWII.
One of my uncles made glove boxes with this patterned type of background with flowers so I also agree it may have been made in a military hospital or sanitarium.
I LOVE the table, ooh do I have a spot for that !! The hardest thing is seeing things on this forum that you WANT, you can't have them but oooh you sure covet them, Joy.
Thats fantastic information. I really appreciate all the lovely replies I have had and just makes me love the table even more.
Hi Joy - the really sad thing is I have a no keep rule so eventually the table will be sold. I had asked an auctioneer for his opinion and he felt 'interesting item but not sure I will get a bidder' so now I feel vindicated for keeping it to research further and give it the background it deserves. It is looking lovely in my lounge, even if for a short spell ! Becky
