I picked up this framed etching today. I'm stumped with the signature. I thought the first letter of the last name was R or Y or RY. No clue on the first name. Look at the number 7, does that look European or just rushed? Thank you. (Bottom was in a shadow it isn't darker)

I don`t think that is a continental 7 otherwise the 1 (one) would have a stroke like a 7 on it.
As an example , an Italian girl wrote my room number down on my key at the hotel on Thursday, it was room 11

    I thought it said M :D

Looks like Belgium, but I'm sure they have little roadside ditches like this all over Europe.

Thank you. Your guess was almost the same as mine.

I tried doing a reverse image search using Google without any luck. So I tried doing it with just the signature and Google was just as stumped as we are.

Indeed looks like it could be Belgium or a other country in that area. They called those trees BERKENBOOM and they are very common in Holland, Belgium and Germany

Birch is common all over the Europe, especially in its Eastern part (Czech Republic, Poland, Ukraine, Belarus, Russia, etc.)

This isn't one of my photos - it's from the internet and it's a canal, but you see this scenery a lot when driving in Flanders - smaller canals alongside the road with these tall trees. The trees in this photo are more mature than the ones in your picture, but it's a common sight. img_3732.jpg
