In all seriousness,I do wonder if he was riding an ostrich or the like,it does look like something broke off there.Whenever I see that lace I think Germany too.

You can look up "Dresden Lace" although most Dresden lace figures I've seen are a bit different.

Probably Japan or Germany. Definitely vintage.

My brother lives in the south of France and last visit there, and to a consignment shop, I couldn't believe how much was new. I wouldn't have believed it had the items not been marked "Reproduction". I suspect these are the same -- modern, ex China. The variety and quality of the repros was mind-blowing. I would tread with caution.

At first glance I thought he was holding and elongated shell, to use as a musical instrument; but now thinking it looks like an octopus tentacle.
    Not pleasant.

Based on the 2nd figurine, the one of the (female?) clown with a stringed instrument, shown in my earlier post, I'm wondering if they both aren't part of some sort of clown "orchestra"?

Minstrels... Yes, Brad, probably a far better suggestion than "orchestra"!

Do not get me started with clowns. I went to the circus once, when I was five, and the clowns totally freaked me out. Nope. Nuh-uh. No way.

At least the second clown looks happy, but what the heck is that spiky thing they're sitting on and what's that oozing out of the bottom of the horn? Maybe I'd better not ask!

I'd get rid of it as fast you can. Once these guys take up residence you'll need an exorcist to get rid of them!
