  1. I found this bag of goodies on the back shelf of the closet. Is there anything worth keeping?

I don't know a lot about jewelry but I would take a second look at that stick pin.

The piece with the hair looks like a mourning brooch. Anything on back? Looks like it swivels.

The black piece is Czech glass, pre-WWII. The watch might be gold-filled. The bitty bugs... check for marks; you might have scrored. The pin in the upper right looks like Victorian hair/mourning jewelry. Gold filled watch chain and probably cigar knife... Gold-filled toothpick case? I think? And two little boxes. The oval one looks to be made of stone. I'd say none of that was junk, and I'd be over it with a fine-toothed comb for marks just in case.

  5. I did a double take on the stick pin...it says DeNicola on the back. I'll check out the rest when I get home...for sure!

Are those bees pins or earrings?

  10. Here is a close up of the front and back...could they be buttons? bugs.jpg

I've never seen anything like that as a button or other fastener. How would you shape the buttonhole?

The round depression in the center of the one on the left looks like a place where it was attached to something, though. Maybe a post for a lapel pin or earring?

Im intrigued by the green stone box. I wonder if that is malachite ? I also like the gold (?) toothpick holder.

the bulova accutron ...is ladies ..so not in much demand....still a good watch...
    but.......is it 14 K ..???

  16. Here is a couple more pictures. The pretty little small box is amazing however, the stone is broken on the top :( I also have a picture of the mystery toothpick/pencil holders guts.

Thank you all so much...it's been fun learning more about this stuff. PS: there are a few more things that were in the bag...I think I should take pictures of them, too.

Well, don't take it on a "Chanel" box, or someone will think you think it's Chanel! haha!

Is that a little rubber plug in the end of the toothpick box? Or what?

Does the top of the little "toothpick holder" turn or come off, or the end plug. I was thinking along the lines that it could be filled with something like perfume or smelling salts for when Milady need a freshen up or encountered a foul odor while out and about.
Of course I know NOTHING about this kind of item,,,,,but thats what popped into my head when I saw it opened.

  20. That would explain the film on my fingers when I pulled it apart...like soot. I first thought it was lead from it being a pencil holder. This has been a great learning experience for me!
