Vintage Red diamond shaped stone tie clip

Dimensions of the Red diamond stone are about 11/16" each side. Dimensions of tie clip including stone are nearly 2" x 7/8". I would like to find out the material of this red diamond shaped stone and its decade? Thank you for your assistance in this request. Rob

 

When were men's ties not very wide? 1970s? 1960s?

My dad was in Vietnam War and he has a Marine ring I suppose he had made that he wore alot and it has I think a red stone in it. I wonder if this vintage red stone tie clip and his Marine ring went together as a set. Rob

 

Those clips styles go back way before the 70s. I've one that was my grandfather's. He bought it not long after WW1.
