I bought these about twenty years ago at a garage sale. They have sat in the box that I brought them home in out in my garage ever since. I thought they were interesting, but never knew what they were or what I should do with them. The top hole is 3/4" across, the side hole is 1 1/2" across, and they are about 6" in diameter at the middle.Any information is much appreciated. 19021342_745379622301129_779096009_n.jpg 18985134_745379608967797_1167310138_n.jpg 18982919_745379612301130_1116690538_n.jpg

I would guess these are/were used to root ivy or such like plants with water added.

Bottles such as this (if that IS an ice chamber), wrapped in raffia so they could stand up, were popular in the 1960s.

Should mention that you could buy them filled with table wine.

It's just a hole, not an ice chamber, so I have no idea. They don't sit flat, do they, so they need stands or some kind of hangers? The plant cutting idea seems likely.

With out an ice chamber, that seems the most likely!

Glass terrariums (terraria?) and cutting rooters were quite popular back in the 70's/80's and were often hung near a window, suspended from macrame holders. Given the size (6" diameter?) I'd say small terrarium for hanging.

Terrarium is a possibility, but the hole is very small to work through.

    Hi,
I agree with Jackolin. These were made for cuttings to hold them until they grew some roots. very 1960ish.
