Painting is kinda nice. Not really sure it it is signed, I need to really check one more corner. But is there a style name for this frame?

I don't know if it has a style name but I think the frame would work GREAT with just the right piece of Outsider or Lowbrow art. More Outsider but some Lowbrow would work with it too.

Looks like someone's attempt at a bat wing frame.

I think its kinda cool. Not sure if I should take it out of the frame before I sell the painting

Bat wing attempts in the four corners maybe, but all of the other wavy aqua/blue-ish lines along the four sides of the frame look to me like someone's attempt on the frame to replicate the wavy blue/aqua/turquoise lines running horizontally on the "golden" mountain.

If the painting can come out of the frame without damaging the painting or the frame, I'd take a chance on removing the painting to possibly determine the "who-what-when-where" of the artist and painting. JMHO

I think the corners look like something had been glued on that has since been lost.

To me it looks like a 1930s-40s picture in original frame. Someone in the 70s read Woman's Day magazine and tried to spruce it up with texture and color. The corners look like wadded paper or cord that was separated, painted and glued on.

There is no signature, but on back of the board it says "My third painting for Anna" I just picked this up at an estate sale. The kids were selling the parents stuff. They were having a tough time dealing with it

Kraftblue, did you happen to notice any other items at the estate sale which had the name "Anna'" on it, perhaps a name inside the front cover of a book indicating Anna as the owner or the giver of a book or a letter from Anna or addressed to Anna? I'm just curious and wondering about a timeline for Anna's existence.

Yourturn, no I didn't notice. I regret it now. If they have another sale I will ask

Kraftblue (Kath) -- I'm now wondering if, depending on the age of the painting and the way language has changed over the years, the "Third painting for Anna" might have meant "Anna's third painting." Sort of like "Anna's third 'A' in English" might have been said "Third 'A' in English for Anna." Just a thought.

By the way, I do like the painting (sans the frame). ;)

Kraftblue, I am so sorry that I missed the word "My" on the back of the painting. I didn't mean to muddy the waters with my (now it appears) prattle about Annie perhaps being the artist. Again, sorry.
