Im new to this site and still learning how to use this site. I Have some old things and not sure what they are.

Welcome, Beata. Good job getting a photo uploaded. Now could you go back & choose Edit, then Other Options, & select full size for your pic so everyone can see it? Also, the pottery gurus will want to see the bottom as well, maybe some other views too.

You anticipated my note. There will be interest in what is printed above Nippon.

There is a mark of a leaf or a flower. Faded though so cant really say what it is. Thank you

There are a number of "hand painted Nippon" marks on Japanese porcelain from before 1921 (the date after which they had to use Japan instead of Nippon to import into the US.) The few that have been connected to a specific pottery company are organized by the "symbol" if any that is part of the marking. Your mark seems to have a very faded symbol. Maybe you can see it better in person than we can see on the screen?

To tell you the truth, that is one gorgeous vase and I doubt that knowing the symbol will matter to valuing it. The best thing to do is to search eBay sold listings for "hand painted Nippon vase" and look for items of similar size and fineness of decoration.

Thank you. I can't really see the marker even in person. The closest I can think is a leaf some kind.

I love that vase. Nippon maple leaf mark, 1891 to 1921.
    What is the size?
If you think you want to sell it let me know

    Shame on you, Mikey. ;)

I just checked the style of the words against the reference to "fakes" of this mark - and yours passed the test. :)

The fake mapleleaf nippon had a larger leaf. If it is 1/4" it is real. 1/2" its fake.

True. Since this leaf is not exactly legible, I checked the "handwriting" of the letters in Hand Painted against Fake and Forged.

Yes, they do. Most are very high priced. Just look at sold items never what people are asking.
