    Hi there [IMG]

I have bought this set online, and it finally arrived today.
I hope somebody recognizes these pieces, because I
    don't know anything about them.

I have placed them here in the German section, because
    it feels German to me.

It's a set of green glass jar and ashtray, made in the Art Nouveau period.
Very nicely decorated. I have no idea whether it's silverplated or pewter, and how to see.
It IS magnetic, so it's not silver then.

But.. the only match I could find online was this set, described as silver.

I hope somebody can tell me more about this.

    Thanks!

So it would be silver plated then?

    Pretty!!
But they are not Art Nouveau style.
Maybe more late Victorian or Edwardian style.

Even silver plate isn't necessarily magnetic. The only way it would be is if there were a base of an alloy containing iron underneath a silver coating. A lot of silverplate items have other alloys not containing iron underneath. Nickel silver, britannia, copper, etc.

But I'm not sure how to put it on the webshop. I think it's silverplated. It wouldn't be 'normal' metal right? These things are usually made out of silver, silverplated, or pewter. since it isn't pewter. I assume it's silver plated

With the ashtray I would look to the 1920s or later when smoking was chic.

I'm wondering 1950s Italian. The glass shapes and colour are very Empoli.

Those are certainly 50s at least with that safety rim.

The set does have that 50s filigree vanity vibe, doesn't it?

It does indeed - and the colour, too.

I have been searching for a couple of hours again.
And I found two that come really close.
    Both described as Russian.

Now, does anybody know if that double eagle is in fact something Russian?
Because the glass is exactly the same. The filigree also. Just a little different pattern. On mine it looks like 2 swans, instead of eagles. (Or maybe that's just my imagination :p)

My conclusion is that it's Russian. It's silver plated metal.

The glass is exactly the same, as the glass in the first link.
