I bought this today and I hope im following the rules of the forum (im new on here), and I was wondering when and where this was made. The bottom has no legible markings. Im also wondering what it's worth is. Thank you

    Hi Veronicaqui :)

I Can't see the base - is it solid, kind of soft and hefty? The airbrushing and silver look like chalkware...

It is best to show a picture of the bottom even if it isn't marked. We can tell a lot by the bottom (color of material, how it is finished, etc)

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

It does look like chalkware on the bottom, from what I can tell.

Chalkware is fun, inexpensive decorative copies of "better" ceramics - you could pick it up at the five and dime stores, carnivals and tourist spots... the more "kitsch" the better - your parrot is a fun quality, the kind of thing that Tiki fans and 50s era enthusiasts would buy. Hope that helps :)

I don't think it's chalkware. It's slip cast and that's not common for chalkware. I don't know who did it. I have a Cardinal-shaped planter with the same sort of metallic finish and the same flat bisque bottom. Being a planter, it does not have the 'drainage' hole that yours has, but otherwise very similar. I think very likely from the same company. But I don't know who.

I honestly can't tell if it's chalkware - it's in terrific shape and really fun, either way :)

Oh, I saw one of these online someplace awhile ago when I was searching for something else...it'll come to me after you figure it out probably. It's a bit like Karl Ens work, but his bases aren't oval, they usually look like branches.
