I had ten dollars worth of fun this morning.
The unmarked bracelet is prob. malachite set in brass; silver-plated fork; lovely Italian note cards; some type of display for flowers/weeds with a metal frog in it; small vase with gold trim marked Japan, and colorful figurine marked China on the bottom. I'll be posting them in the other forums with better pictures, to get your ideas, as I'm out of my league on several items.

 

Brass? It's marked sterling and bears the mark of Bell Trading Post.

 

That black square with the embedded frog should be for "ikebana" flower arranging. A Japanese art.

I've had stationery with that same scrolling design inside the envelopes!

 

I have lots of those malachite bangles, I buy them whenever I see them. Basically, malachite chips or pieces, mae in India. I really like them.

 

strange looking patina for sterling though....

 

I thought the same thing...looks like brass, but marked sterling, odd.

 

nice pickle fork......as a kid...i'd steal it off the tray and use it to stab my meat....
mom was not amused...!

 

Could that be a tarnished gold wash over sterling on the spoon?

 

That's what I'd be thinking. Gold-plated sterling can turn that color and fools people all the time. I'd have bought it as a brass spoon regardless; Texas sells, and if it doesn't I have a friend who's a rabid fan of anything Texas. (Merry Christmas Pat! )

Did some hunting today.. Also some catching. I went first to a DAR fundraiser sale, figuring anyone with ancestors here during the Revolution might have old stuff. Blew $50 but found some things. A second foray was to a moving sale in my own town. Spent $5 there, including a stack of postcards. One set is black and white and had handwriting on the front. I normally would have passed them up, but they're Western Pacific RR postcards. The first photo shows a Chinese cloissone buckle, a Russian paper mache pin (I love 'em), a 14k cross and a 10k and synthetic sapphire ring. I'm guessing on the last one, but who puts an eye perfect incredibly blue huge rock in a 10k setting? It'll have to be checked in case. The other photos need resizing before they'll upload.

 

Had to pay retail for this but it sure does look nice in my collection! From the 1904 presidential campaign so it's 113 years young and still in nice condition.

so i did a little experiment last night with a photo of my chair, I was thinking that everyone i show a live picture or compare a live picture ti , it looks new and bright right , so i got nick to print me up a picture and , i brought it home put it under the microscope and compared it to other prints in my book , prints of prints , here's my results .

Lucite purse, or is it more of a makeup case? That looks like 60s upholstery on the inside.

Spent too much time and the MS wasn't happy with me yesterday, but I did find some stuff. Among them this - spessartine garnet in 9k.

 

A purse, I think, given the proportions. Handbag to us. It's British: it has a Cheney lock on it. And in almost unused condition.

 

the chair is bottom right pic. , each of those pictures were paintings (one of each ) spanning his lifetime , so in other words no 2 are from the same painting or work .

 

today i took it to nicks and set 3 mirrors around it ,because a friend asked if i had ever looked at it in a mirror ,it set off a brain fart, 3 way mirror will let me see the whole thing without spinning or touching it .

 

I just ran to the pharmacy and on the way back, there was a giant "free" pile from a yard sale. These photographs are just a few of the things I grabbed.
