Help with pottery mark

    Does anyone recognise this mark? It's a big, heavy pottery bowl bought at Sydney auction maybe 20 years ago, but searches for "running pig/wolf/dog/bear" haven't helped. Thanks. P1060180.jpg P1060178.jpg

    I think that's a wild boar. There's a couple of really good Facebook groups about mystery studio pottery, I'd try one of them.

    Welcome, @oliveannie . No one but you can see the picture you posted in the Gallery because your album is set to Private. You should go back there and change the setting to Public so we can see it.

    Both pieces show the mark of French potter Louis Lourioux, 1874-1930. He used several marks on his early pieces, one of which is a wolf (or dog) running to the left with overlapping L's over the center of the animal. That information is from the book "Art Nouveau Ceramics" by Paul Arthur, 2015. There is also a Wikipedia page showing the mark, LINK.

    I think the name Lourioux is still used on ceramics today.
