    Audubon used this type of paper (among others) for some of his paintings. A little bit of reading says the name shows up with different dates (or no date), which suggests that it's a date of manufacture as opposed to the date the company was founded. If the paper does date to 1827, it seems unlikely that someone scrounged a piece a hundred years later to do this drawing.

    Romantic Era depiction so correct for 1827 paper period.
