    Hi all,
I just came across these Bell pull Ends while digging around in one of my drawers.
I have had them a long time and can't remember where I got them or if they were attached to a Bell Pull.

Does anyone know if they have any age?
IMG_0784.JPG IMG_0785.JPG The number on the backs is M02423.
They seem to be Brass too.
    Thanks all.

Please give dimensions. My opinion is that these are decorative objects from about 1960 or later. They weren't intended as functional bell pulls because the "pull" loop is fairly sharp from being made essentially 2-dimensional, flat on back=uncomfortable to pull. Their construction is too wimpy for functional bell pulls. "You rang, m'lord?"

    Hi :)
They are just a little over 6" across.
The hand stitched wool strip would have been attached to the top and bottom (I have some Victorian ones).
They were grasped and pulled by the actual wool strip....Does that help?

You might be right on age as they are nothing like my Victorian ones :)

Done a bit of research and they do look like an old-fashioned bell-pull set of hardware. The upper piece would connect to the actual bell-wire, which ran through a series of pulleys set inside the walls, to the service-bell downstairs, and then there'd be a cloth or leather strap, and then the actual handle at the bottom which you'd yank on to ring the bell. No idea how old they are, but they certainly seem to fit the description.

In-use, it would've looked something like this:

The ring at the top would be connected to the bell-wire, and the handle at the bottom would be to yank on the pull to ring the bell.

Agree with Spring... on these being relatively new "because the 'pull' loop is fairly sharp from being made essentially 2-dimensional, flat on back=uncomfortable to pull. Their construction is too wimpy for functional bell pulls." Following are examples of Victorian bell pulls with substantial hardware. The rings for pulling are decorated on both sides. Also the bar on the back for holding/sewing on to the needlework looks too modern. My mother made a couple of needlepoint bell pulls in the 1970s with new hardware similar to these, flat on the back.

Hi, Yes when I compare them to Victorian ones I have they are different, I hoped they were just a different style.

I won't use them as I like original period stuff but instead will give them to a charity shop.

Thanks everyone for your valued opinions :)
