Is it safe to describe Frame as a early 1900’s plaster? Not sure if gilded as I see no brush marks and the tips look more like a orangish, bronze paint? How would you describe the frame?

Notice I took our the square nails to inspect the lithograph. The print was backed by cardboard. Thanks for any comments and help!

The term is "gesso." Think you can assume it's contemporary to the print. If it doesn't appear to have been gilded, suppose you could call it "distressed bronze" if that's what it appears to be to your eye.

Thanks Debora! I’ll educate myself on “gesso” but is that how you would describe the style of frame?

I'd call it an Edwardian gesso frame with a distressed-bronze finish.
