I may be barking up the wrong tree...so to speak but has any one considered teak as the type of wood used? It may have all ready been mentioned, (as I did skim read the comments) but I had an unmarked danish styled chair. I recently sold it at market and it was mentioned that the wood may have been teak?
I am however located South side ( Australia) so it may be of no usefulness to this thread.
On the other hand I am very much in love with this chair style, I have not come across it down this way yet. It is very beautiful  20170418_214255.jpg

If by in love with this chair, you mean the one I posted, Ill give you a good deal on it if you restore it and post pics. I mostly sell, and I don't really have a place for this one atm.

    Ships pretty cheap probably.

Oh and this one is marked Yugoslavia. And apparently they were using some local beech at the time so most likely that is what I gathered.

Oh that is very tempting  would love to restore it..... It will be all down to affordability though, as living down under has it's draw backs, such as the cost of postage to the other side of the world:banghead:

Oh wow. Western Australia. I was just watching a movie the other day called "Tracks" about a girl in the 70s who walked across the back country. Like 1700 miles with her camels and dog.

    Pretty country.

Solid teak would be a lot heavier than beech, and it's a different colour and grain. As an aside, a lot of the MCM teak stuff is veneer.

Thanks for the info on the wood type OBB. I am still in the throes of learning more on woods used for different furniture types and periods :cat:

What price would it be (ball park figure I mean) to possibly ship to the South western corner of the world ? If I may ask. Perth's GPO postcode been 6000 if that helps narrow it down :greedy::happy: out of curiousity and potentially a serious thought about purchase :nailbiting::nailbiting::wideyed:

Well I was curious the day you asked and priced out a few places and it was a few hundred USD what I saw, although I didnt dig much past that. Didn't realize it could be so much to ship that way.

I thought as much, it seems to be the running story for shipping costs to Australia, it often costs more to ship the item than it does to purchase it.l:banghead::bored: thanks for looking into it anyway FWIW :)

I am not quite sure the best way to ship it though. The service said 7-10days which seems pretty fast for over seas.

The package would be roughly 20 pounds 14x30x40 (inches).

I did get a chance to wipe it down with olive oil and vinegar to clean it up a bit. DSCN8979.JPG DSCN8981.JPG

Sorry lol. I was just surprised at the difference it made. Night and day.

Someone still would need to do a real repair to the runner joint, but I dont think I would change much else except for adding cushions.
